Sacred Heart of Jesus: An Oasis of Faith in the Ozark Mountains
Faithful Catholics who are looking for the Latin Mass turn to our Traditional Catholic Parish and pay us a visit. They say they feel as if they have stepped back in time. That is because here at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, not only is the Mass celebrated according to the traditional Latin Rite, but we have remained faithful to all of the teachings of the Catholic Church as they have been passed down through the ages, not out of nostalgia, stubbornness or “disobedience,” but out of love for our holy Faith and for the Papacy. It is our duty to preserve the deposit of faith that was handed down to us throughout the past 2,000 years.
The founding of Sacred Heart:
Sacred Heart of Jesus Traditional Catholic Church began from a group of lay people who were seeking the sacraments in the Ozarks of Arkansas. As word spread and the number of the faithful grew, Bishop Pivarunas granted permission to set up a parish in 2020. The very next year a church building and rectory were obtained. Two nuns were transferred here and started a school; St. John Bosco Academy opened its doors to students in the Fall of 2023.
